MSA achieves closed-road motorsport for mainland Britain
n one of the biggest developments in the history of UK motorsport, the Motor Sports Association’s long campaign to bring closed-road events to mainland Britain has been successful, with the enabling legislation commencing on Monday (10 April).
The impression I’ve taken away was that it was a tough, but accurate, event that you seem to have enjoyed taking part in.
The weather was kind to us this year to the benefit of both competitors and marshals. I would like to thank all the marshals for coming out to help make it all happen.

The first meeting of the club will take place on Monday 6th March at 8PM including the NESMG award presentation. The venue for this meeting will be held in the upstairs meeting room within:- The Altens Community Centre, Strathburn Street, Altens, AB12 3SE

2017 is the year in which things will change for rallying events in the UK.
Since the tragic circumstances on the 2014 Jim Clark Rally and the 2013 Snowman Rally, all such rallying events are all now subject to more MARSHALLING regulations.
Unfortunately turning up at an event, and signing on as you have done for years, is no longer available.
The MSA has not introduced this in order to make your life difficult, it is to improve the skills and the image of motorsport within Scotland.
We would like every SDMC member, driver, navigator, auto tester, hill climber or whatever your flavour of motorsport to take some time out to perform a simple online MSA training process.

>Start the online registration process here<
All clubs are being encouraged do this please do not let our Scottish motorsport community down. Our sport and our future events will not proceed if we do not help each other.
Our most urgent marshal requirement is for the Snowman Rally on the 18th February.
If you have not completed the online training please still come along, you will be “buddied-Up” with a competent Marshal.
There will be opportunities to car share.
